Matilda Emberson

Matilda is a Senior Consultant with extensive experience in enabling workplace performance through the development and delivery of coaching and training programs. Matilda brings extensive experience in supporting staff to enhance their leadership effectiveness and career progression. Having migrated to Australia from Fiji in her late teens and lived and worked in several countries, Matilda has extensive experience of working with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Matilda has been a posted officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and held positions including Women’s Policy Officer and Workplace Diversity Officer. Since working at DFAT, Matilda has held roles as an Executive and Career coach across the Australian Public Service and in the Corporate Sector.   Matilda brings deep insights into the realities of the challenges leaders face, as a result of over 3,000 hours of executive coaching of staff from APS to Executive and Senior Executive levels – and across federal, state and territory jurisdictions.

Matilda brings specialist recruitment and selection expertise as a former Senior Recruitment Consultant and Professional Member of the Career Development Association of Australia. She has been on the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Career Advisory Panel since 2006, delivering a broad range of specialist career coaching support under that arrangement. She has also offered career coaching services into a vast array of businesses, agencies and across the APS – designing, delivering career skills development programs focused on sharpening candidates’ appreciation of what panels are looking for and equipping them to interview confidently. In 2013, Matilda designed and delivered training in leading and managing teams for the YWCA’s ‘She Leads Program’, a diploma level program designed to support the successful transition into leadership roles for emerging young female leaders.

Matilda is an Accredited Practitioner in: Realise 2 Strengths Assessment (2014), Inventory of Workplace Attitudes & Motivations (iWAM), 2010, VIA Character Strengths, 2009, the GENOS Emotional Intelligence Assessment Scale, 2008, the Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument, 2007 and is also experienced in delivering 360 feedback. Her qualifications include a Master of Management, from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours.
